Personalized treatment for optimized survival of revision total knee replacement

Many patients are successfully treated with a knee prosthesis, but sometimes complications arise. In a revision surgery bone loss occurs, making the placement of a new prosthesis more difficult. With this research, we are developing a tool to improve the planning and outcomes of revision surgery.

Comparing the degree of loosening with different combinations of bone fillers and prostheses.

Creating a large number of computer models to predict the results and risks of various surgical methods.

The collected knowledge about optimal surgical methods for each type of bone loss is integrated into an application. This predicts the best method for each patient. With a clinical study we will investigate the short-term outcomes of the tool.
