The overall goal of this research project is to improve clinical decision making through valid, reliable and responsive clinically applicable instrumented tests for gait capacity and daily life gait performance in patients with complex neurological gait problems.

The instrumented tests performed are the figure of 8 test (F8WT) and the ladder test, during which participants have to keep their balance and adjust their steps. Body movements obtained using IMU’s attached to both feet, trunk and pelvis are used to assess the gait capacity aspects of dynamic balance and gait adaptability. Validity, reliability and responsiveness to interventions of these outcome measures will be tested in people with stroke, incomplete spinal cord injury and Hereditary motor sensory neuropathy.
Home monitoring with IMUs will also be carried out pre- and post-intervention, to assess the daily life gait performance of patients.

Period: December 2021 to December 2024.
