Gait capacity and costs
Gait capacity is often used as a measure of independence in people with stroke. It may also provide insight into the healthcare, social, and personal costs.
People with a stroke commonly show limitations in walking, such as a lower walking speed. In research, these limitations are commonly expressed as the gait capacity. The same people also often have higher costs following their stroke. It is not yet known whether gait capacity can provide any indication of the expected costs.
In this study, we want to measure the gait capacity and costs in 100 people with stroke. With this information, we will investigate the association between gait capacity and costs, which may help us to predict who is expected to have higher costs in the future.
