RE:HOME home based rehabilitation
Smart technologies for personalized home rehabilitation for neurological paediatric patients.
In this project, we study how innovative techniques can be used within paediatric rehabilitation. We aim to make home-based rehabilitation for these children both as efficient and as fun as possible.
This project focusses on children with neuromotor diseases, like cerebral palsy. This project encompasses multiple studies, among which the creation of a new IT-platform to prescribe home-based exercises and monitor progression. On top of that, we work on an algorithm to automatically recognize and identify upper limb movements like reaching and grasping from videos recordings, to evaluate the possibilities of the child and how they execute their exercises. Furthermore, we investigate whether and how innovative techniques such as virtual reality and smart toys can be used to make home rehabilitation as useful and fun as possible.
